Who are we?

Health care workers and other professionals, patients, family members and friends concerned about kidney disease in black people

The African Caribbean Kidney Association (ACKA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing the unique challenges faced by black individuals affected by kidney disease. Our mission is to empower and support Black lives through education, advocacy, and research initiatives that promote kidney health and improve outcomes within the Black community.

At ACKA, we recognize the alarming disparity in the prevalence and impact of kidney disease among black individuals. Research has shown that black people are at a higher risk of developing kidney disease and experience poorer health outcomes than other populations. We believe that everyone deserves equitable access to quality healthcare and the opportunity to live a healthy life regardless of their background.

At ACKA, we are committed to meaningfully impacting kidney health in the black community. We strive to empower individuals, raise awareness, reduce disparities, and promote equitable access to kidney health resources and care through our programs, services, advocacy efforts, and research initiatives. Join us in our mission to empower black lives and create a future where kidney disease no longer disproportionately affects our community.

Vision

Our vision at the African Caribbean Kidney Association is a future where every black individual has access to equitable kidney health resources and experiences improved health outcomes. We envision a society where kidney disease disparities are eradicated, and all black lives thrive with optimal kidney health.
